Far From Society
he famous book, Into the Wild, tells about the true story of the extraordinary life of Christopher Johnson McCandless. He was a talented young man graduated from Emory University. He had a well- to-do family and a bright future ahead.
me day he told his parents that he wanted to spend the summer travelling in his car. In fact, it would be a solo adventure. He left his car and went on his adventure by hitchhiking to Alaska. He reached there one year later and started to live in an abandoned bus in the wild.
;our months later he wanted to turn back. Unfortunately he failed because of the river turned into a raging torrent. So he went back to the bus he stayed in. His family never heard from him again until the August of 1992, when hunters found his body in the bus. he book is fantastic. The author described McCandless’s adventure so real. I read the book with a feeling of pity for those who lost their lives in such a quest. Why did he die in an abandoned bus in the woods of Alaska? Why did he want to disappear? These are the questions that Krauker tries to answer.
Iost of the people have dreamt of being away from society like McCandless. Because they believe that they will have free will if they are completely alone. However, no one can be totally independent of the society. Only some people had that kind of experience either voluntarily or accidentally. However, they have always tried to turn back to society which is vital for all people.
people influence each other. In spite of the idea of being an independent individual, each person thinks and acts as a result of interaction with his society. I think the young McCandless left his life as a result of an interaction with his family or friends, too. That’s why the people who try to be away from society plan to turn back one day. They write diaries, and tell about their experiences because they’re also in need of social interaction.
