That the Language is a fantastic way to communicate with others is a well-known fact which is accepted by many people in the modern world. Besides, it is very important to learn more about different aspects if two people share a common language because learning a foreign language creates new opportunities that you can improve yourself in many ways and here is what Gülşah experienced in her learning process. Let’s listen to her.
“I have just completed a one-month intensive summer course at a language school in M # ■ Birmingham, Britain. İt
n/as amazing. There were many people coming from different countries with their own customs, social habits, traditions and beliefs. As a result, there were obvious differences. Our teacher, Miss Moore, was so cheerful and patient that she never gave up explaining until every one fully understood the topics. While I was improving English, I taught Turkish to my friend, Nick, who is Spanish. To tell the truth, it was an interesting experience for me because our common language was English, which helped me teach him Turkish. He frankly said that Turkish spelling was quite easy and also commented that one day if Turkey joined the EU, Turkish Language would become a popular language for language learners. He sincerely said he desired to visit Turkey for his summer vacation in order to practise his Turkish as well as to get to know about Turkish traditions and customs after our conversations about Turkish bath and henna night, the Evil Eye Beads, Carpet and kilims, Greased Wrestling, the Whirling Dervishes, the Turkish coffee and the Turkish delight and Kebabs.”
İn conclusion, as it is understood from Gülşah’s experiences, the effecfs of learning a language have developed many aftifudes fowards ifs culfure, customs, traditions, habits and lifesfyles.
