To write an anecdote:

a- Write a personal anecdote. Before you start writing, look at the table on page 41. Use some of the words and phrases to improve your writing. Follow the instructions in ‘KEEP IN MIND!’ box.
b- Read the following anecdote and circle the main point of it.
When the British King, Edward VIII, decided to go on a cruise holiday in 1936, he also wanted to visit Atatürk. As usual diplomacy required, he kindly let Atatürk know about his visit beforehand. It was an important occasion for both countries because of their government policies. Atatürk, as an outstanding figure of courtesy and manners, wanted to welcome the King warmly and make him feel himself at home. He told the men at his service to learn the British royal protocol and organise the dinner in their way. The King was astonished and flattered by this occasion. The dinner was perfect until one of the butlers fell down to the floor with a big plate in his hand. Everybody, but Atatürk got nervous and ashamed of this clumsiness. Atatürk, with great intelligence and a sense of humour, told the King that “My nation knows everything but being a servant”.
