Ludwig van Beethoven was born in 1770. He was a German composer and pianist. He moved to Vienna in his early 20s to study with Joseph Hayden. He gained a reputation as a virtuose pianist very soon, but he began to lose his hearing. He became completely deaf when he was in his late twenties, but he continued to compose, conduct and perform. He died in 1827.

Mustafa Kemal was born in 1881 in Salonica. When he was 12, he joined a military school. Later on, he graduated from the military academy in İstanbul and established a great reputation by fighting against the Allies. He started a nationalist revolution and in 1923, Turkey became a secular republic. He was elected as the first president of the Turkish Republic. He died in 1938.
